Finding Friendship in a New Neighbourhood
When Mr Tan, 78, moved to a new HDB flat after his old block was selected for SERS, he left behind more than just a home — he left behind decades of friendships and familiar faces.
The transition was difficult. Living alone, Mr Tan found the days long and the silence heavy. That changed when a CARE Visitation volunteer knocked on his door.
Weekly visits turned into a genuine friendship. The volunteer helped Mr Tan connect with activities at the nearby community centre, and today, he has a new circle of friends who share meals and morning walks together.
