Sharing Joy Through Music

Mr Lim retired from teaching music at a primary school five years ago. But retirement didn’t mean stopping. Every Thursday, he brings his keyboard to House of Joy and leads a sing-along session for the elderly residents.

The songs are familiar — old favourites from the 1960s and 70s that bring smiles and sometimes tears. For many of the seniors, these sessions are the highlight of their week.

Music has a way of reaching people that words sometimes can’t. Mr Lim has watched quiet residents open up, tap their feet, and even dance. He says giving back through music has given his retirement a sense of purpose he never expected.
