Volunteering, But Make It Fun

Volunteering with CHCSA at the oceanarium was easily one of the best days we've had. The outing was well organised, and the staff brought such warmth and energy that everyone, volunteers and kids alike, settled in within minutes. The teaching materials they prepared were actually fun to use, which made connecting with the children easy.

What we will not forget is how excited the kids were. They were buzzing the moment we walked in. "Nemo!" was shouted the second anyone spotted a clownfish, and the hammerhead sharks earned actual gasps. The touch pool was chaos in the best way, with everyone wanting a turn. Their curiosity was contagious and the volunteers had as much fun as the kids did.

For many of them, this was a rare break from their usual routine, and you could tell. They bonded with each other, asked a hundred questions, and walked out with memories they will hold on to. Getting to be part of that day and witnessing their wide-eyed joy was a blessing for all of us.
